Performance Tennis Management is proud to support the youth tennis programs at Homestead Farms II.  The practice schedule for USTA Junior Team Tennis set below is based on the KNOWN teams as of early April.  If new teams are formed prior to the mid-April deadline the schedule might be changed.  We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, but our community is based on inclusion and we will try to always include everyone we can.

ALL PLAYERS ON A TEAM MUST REGISTER FOR TEAM PRACTICES

USTA Junior Team Tennis

USTA Junior Team Tennis is the best summer program for kids ages 8-18 to learn, play  and compete in tennis with friends in a fun and competitive format.  With ability levels for all ages from NOVICE to ADVANCED, kids have more fun and learn faster by playing the game instead of just taking lessons.

This 8-week program groups kids together in small teams of 5-7 players of similar ability and age.  They practice twice weekly and then play age and ability scaled matches on Monday mornings or early afternoons.

Teams will be formed in mid April by Angie Hansen, and each team will be assigned a parent captain responsible for small administrative duties.

All players on a team are required to register for practices.  There are no practices on July 4th

Orange 1

Orange Level 1 is our first stage class for 7-10 year olds just starting out in 10 and Under Tennis.

Students at the Orange level will be instructed on a 60 foot court with a ball that bounces less high than a traditional ball, allowing them to work in a strike zone that encourages proper timing and technique. In this class, we focus on the basics of tennis including stroke production, footwork and cooperative play through games and drills designed to promote early success.  The class introduces students to all parts of the game and is designed to prepare them to begin to play assisted matches at the next level.  After 1-3 sessions of this class, or with previous experience, most students are ready for Orange Level 2, although some will feel more comfortable with extra sessions of this class.

The class is 1 hour long, and students should have a 23 to 25 inch racquet. The class is capped at a 7:1 student to instructor ratio.

Orange 2

Orange Level 2 is our development class for 7-10 year olds using the USTA's 10 and Under Tennis program.

This class focuses on enhancing the players tennis foundation as well as introducing supervised match play. The skills that students developed in previous classes are now refined, and new skills such a court positioning and match strategy are introduced. After 1-3 sessions of Orange II, students should be able to demonstrate proper technique for a forehand, two-handed backhand and volley.  Students will also be able to serve, and rally a point.  Students completing Orange II successfully will then move into competitive league programs at either the Orange or Green levels.

The class is 1 hour long, and students should have a 25 to 26 inch racquet. The class is capped at a 7:1 student to instructor ratio.

Red 1

Red Level 1 is our first stage class for 5-8 year olds just starting out in our 10 and Under programs.

Using larger and softer balls and a smaller court, kids begin to learn the basics of tennis including stroke production, footwork and cooperative play through games and drills designed to promote early success. The class introduces students to all parts of the game and is designed to prepare them for Red II, where they will utilize the skills developed in this class.

After 1-2 sessions of this class, or with previous experience, most students are ready for the challenge of Orange Ball, although some will feel more comfortable with extra sessions of this class.

The class is 45 minutes long, and children should have their own 21 or 23 inch racquet. Classes are capped at a 7:1 student to instructor ratio.
